Information
Harlington is situated at the southern end of the Borough of Hillingdon, near the M4/Heathrow Airport. As a result we have good access to London to our east by road, rail and underground. There is also easy access to the countryside of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire via the M4 and M25.
The school shares its site with the Public Library, Adult Education, Sports Centre, Pupil Study Centre and Goals. All faculties are housed in purpose built suites and are well-resourced. The school is designed to cater for the needs of the disabled and has a Special Resource Unit. We expect our next stage of development to focus on becoming an extended school site, increasing numbers in the Sixth Form.

The school is a foundation school but the Governing Body wished to show its commitment to the learning needs of the local community by retaining the name Harlington Community School. The mission statement is as follows:-
"Looking Forward to Success"
The school is a mixed comprehensive, and reflects the multi-cultural nature of our local community. We admit 224 pupils each year based on eight forms of entry. The teaching staff number approximately 76 and a similar number of associate staff. We demand high standards from our students both in terms of their studies and behaviour. We retain an ethos which is positive and we are known as being a friendly school. We are committed to high quality staff progression and development.
The targets we set are challenging and regularly monitored. Our SATs and A Level results have continued to improve and we have robust strategies in place to improve GCSE results.

Every teacher is responsible for the quality of the educational experience received by our pupils. Every teacher is therefore not only a member of a subject specialist team but is also a form tutor within a year team, reflecting the dual role of the academic and pastoral systems. Tutors have a central role as they are primarily responsible for establishing the ethos of the school by fostering caring relationships, attitudes and value. Tutors are expected to provide a secure base for pupils and take an active interest in all aspects of their development enabling them to realise their full potential. Normally tutors remain with their tutor groups throughout their statutory schooling, in order to build up detailed knowledge of individual pupils as to become a major link between pupil and parent and school in line with the school's policies and procedures.
